At a meeting of the Kaiapoi Licensing Committee on Monday it was stated that a Rangiora hotelkeeper, who could not obtain a Chinese gong—m consequence of the increased demand for that article, since the Licensing Committee had decided that it was necessary one should be kept in every publichouse to alarm the inmates in case of fire—had provided a frying pan.
