EVICTED TENANTS IN IRELAND.
Wo have received a circular signed by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Mr John Dillon, M.P., and various others, appealing to “Irishmen and Irishwomen beyond the seas” for donations to Hie fund for the relief of the evicted tenants in Ireland. The circular states: “Long years have passed since hundreds suffered eviction in obedience to what they believed to be the call of duty, amidst the encouragement and plaudits of the majority of their countrymen at Homo and abroad, supported by promises of unfailing help from at Home and. abroad. They acted with a courage and devotion equal to that of any patriots that ever ascended the scaffold or faced death on the field of battle. Many have been reinstated ; some have found homes abroad; some rest beyond the wave; the land that gave birth to them has caught many back to her breast.' Some 500 families (2500 persons) still, remain dragging out a miserable existence at fho portals of their old hemes. The committee has been overwhelmed with applications and appeals.” Subscriptions will he received by the Lord Mayor of Dublin (Danied Tallon, Esq.) or by the Hibernian Bank, Dublin.
