A detachment of 100 men of tlie Ist Lancers of the Hyderbad (Indian) contingent, under Captain Humphrey, recently proceeded to Bir to support the civil authority against a band of 90 Dacoits. The Lancers attacked the band and captured the ringleader, together with 38 of his followers, 10 of whom were killed and 16 wounded in-the fighting. On the British side one sowar was severely wounded. A wedding was solemnised at the Independent Chapel, Aberystwyth, recently, says the “Aberystwyth Observer,” in which all the parties concerned bore tiv> name of Jones. The bridgroom was Richard Jones, tailor, son of Jonathan Jones, tailor, and the bride was Elizabeth Jane Jones, whose father, David Jones, is also a tailor. The witnesses were John Robert Jones, tailor, and Anne Jones. The minister was the Rev R. E. Jones, of Talybont, and the registrar the Rev William Jones.
