MR FISHER RETIRES.

At a thinly-attended meeting of citizens (about 5 per cent, of whom were burgesses) held at Thomas’ Hail last week, and presided over by Mr Duncan, Mr George Fisher, after reviewing the actions of the City Council during past years in a critical spirit, announced that he did not intend to contest the Mayoralty on the present occasion. On the motion of Mr Harry Warner, seconded by Mr 11. B. Budge, a vote of thanks was passed to Mr Fisher for his address. It is therefore probable that Mr J. it.
