The trial of the Assyrians, charged with having submitted false invoices to the Customs authorities here, will not take place for a fortnight at the earliest. Mr Justice Edwards last week adjudged Charles Melton, tailor and outfitter, Manners street, a bankrupt, on the petition of Messrs Podgshun and Co., merchants, on whose behalf Sir Robert Stout appeared. The meeting of the creditors is to be held on the 25th instant.
