The City Council last week gran'ei the use of the Baaiu iJeservejj to the Bight Hour 3 Federated Union for the demonstration of Labour Day. Eight applications for the post of electrical expert to the city Council were received by the Council last week. They were referred to the Electric Light Committee to decide upon. The request of the Official Assignee that the Council should remit the overtime penalty on Mr Coleman's contract for the Thomdon Baths was considered at the City Council last week. Councillor Fraser moved an amendment to the report of the Public Works Committee to the effect that £io ,10a should bo remitted, and this was done.
