A report has been current in town, says tho Timaru Herald of Wednesday last, for some days that a large boat bearing the name " Wairarapa " has been washed ashore near the wreck of the Elginshire, and, of course, it was supposed to be a waif from the wreck of the steamer Wairarapa on Great Barrier Island a couple of years ago. We have not mentioned this report before, pending some confirmation of it, because it seemed so improbable that one of the Wairarapa's boats could have found i£ way to Normanby against the prevalent northerly current. We hayo now obtained more precise information front Mr Ellis, who lives near the locality, and learn that the name on the boat is " Wairaurahiri," or " Wairau flahiri," arid that it is a large one about 27ft long, with fittings for a mast, is blueish grey in colour, and had. not been long in the water. The boat is much damaged, its baok being broken. It is< probably a fishing boat lost from some poiafc ja tho south.
