INTERCOLONIAL EIGHT-OAR RACE. Melbourne, May S. At a conference of delegates from the Rowing Associations of the various colonies to discuss the amateur question, it was decided that Queensland and Western Australia should endeavour to abide by any arrangement arrived at between Victoria and New South Wales. The intercolonial eight-oar race resulted as follows : —Victoria, 1 ; South Australia, 2 ; Queensland, 3. Won by two lengths. A good race throughout between the two first craws. The Queensland crew were never in it.
Powell, of Western Australia (late of Victoria), won the championship sculls, beating Deane (Queensland) and Lindgren (Victoria).
