A meeting of the City Council was held last week; present —His Worship the Mayor (Mr H. D. .Bell), Councillors Anderson, Lin* gard, Myers, . Devine, Harcourt, . Higgia* bottom, Fraser, McGill, Lindsay. Alawyer’s letter was received on behalf of Mr Brown, complaining that the Inspector of Vehicles had refused to grant him a license. Tho matter was referred to the By-law Com* mittee. An application from the "Wellington Woollen Company to be allowed to erect temporary premises on the reclaimed land was referred to the City Surveyor. The annual licensing meeting to consider applications for licenses will be held on the 4th of Ju^e,
