WHETHER YOU BELIEVE IT OR NOT , It is a Fact THAT CHRISTENDOM IS ASTRAY FROM THE BIBLE!!! IT is an astounding declaration, but it is true, nevertheless. Just a little attention, if you please, to the following evidence of the fact, and you will see for yourselves that Church Teaching and the Bible cannot agree. | ® I It is generally admitted by all believers in j the Bible, that it is an absolute necessitx ( to believe the gospel. The Master said concerning tho Gospel, “He that boiioveth and is baptized shall be saved; but he i hat believoth not shall be condemned” (Mark xvi., 16). The all-important question arises— WHAT IS THE GOSPEL? It is all-important, because “ The gospel is tho power of God unto salvation to every one that believoth” (Rom. i., 16). Tho answer of the churches to the question is—the sacrificial death of Christ, and His resurrect.on. The answer of the Bible, while not ignoring the importance of tho death of Christ, is—■ “THE KINGDOM OP GOD.” Jesus declared that ho was sent to “ preach * the kingdom of God ” (Mark i., 14'. He sent his disciples to preach tho same glad tidings (Luke ix., 1,2); and they proclaimed this gospel whilo in ignorance of tho shamoful death to which Jesus was called upon to submit (Luke ix., 44, 45). Reader! Could they have preached what is taught in the I churches to-day as tho “gospel” whilo ignorant of it ? This loads to another question, viz. : WHAT IS THE KINGDOM OF GOD? Consider well the following testimonies concerning tho Christ from prophot, angel, apostle, and tho Master Himself, and be ho d how sadly Christendom is astray from the Word of God! Isaiah ix., 7: “Of tho increase of hia government and peace there shall bo no end, upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever.” (See also Isa. ii., 2, 4 ; TJzek. I'd., 25, 27 ; Jer. xxxiii., 15; 7eoh. vi., 12, 13 ; Dan. ii., 44.) Gabriel: “Ho shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest, and the' Lord - God shall give unto him the thronh of Hia afthkr David ; arid he shmll reign over the house of Jacob for ever ” (Luke i., 32). Peter : “ Therefore (David) being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne .” (Acts ii., 30-31; see also Acts iv., 16). Jesus : (In answer to Pilate’s question—- “ Art thou a king, then ?”) “ To this end xoas I born , and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth.” (John xviii., 37 ; see also Matthew xix., 28; xxv., 81). The above, quotations and references prove that the kingdom of God will be set up on the earth at the second coming of the Lord, and that it will be the KINGDOM OF IsRAEL RESTORED. This WU3 the subject matter of the preaohing of Jesus and tho Apostles. Search tho Scriptures and see whether these things are so, and remember this warning note from the inspired apostle PauCi. “ Though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other Gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, LET HIM BE ACCURSED” (Gal. i, 8). Reader ! This matter affects yon. It demands your closest attention, your most earnest study. It is a question of life or death. If you dosiro to have roading matter on those all-important topics, or any questions answered, kindly address, in first instance, S.C., 9, Ellice street, Wellington.
