Mr; C. F. WORTH;

On Tuesday a cablegram was received in town announcing the death of an old and respected citizen of Wellington, Mt C. F: WSctti. J

Some six months ago Mr Worth was taken ;< ill with what was supposed to be an attack of heart disease, and since then he had been ailing. Two or three weeks ago he with Mrs Worth and his youngest son left on a trip to the Old Country via Australia, and last week news was received in Wellington that he had arrived in Sydney in the best of health. On Tuesday the cable arrived stating that he was dead, and that his body would be brought to Wellington. Mr Worth’s death will be k regretted by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintanoe. He and his wife arrived in Christchurch by the ship Zealandia in the very early days, and after a few years’ residence in the South he came to Wellington, where he had remained ever since. He was an honourable and much-respected citizen, and the news of his decease will be received with regret by a very large circle. " ' Prior to his death, Mr Worth was president of the Working Men’s Club ; and he was also a member of the City Council for a term. He always took an active interest in politics, and was the prime mover in many political organisations, and on one occasion stood for the House of Representatives. Mr Worth leaves a wife and a family of nine to mourn their loss. PROFESSOR DRUMMOND. Professor Henry Drummond, aged 46, is dead. The late Professor was born in Stirling in 1851. He subsequently passed through the Free Church Divinity Hall, and after this ordination was appointed to a mission station at Malta. He was appointed a Lecturer in Science at the Free Church College, Glasgow, in 1877,* and Professor in 1884. Subsequently he travelled with Professor Geikie in rhe Rocky Mountains and South Africa. He is the author^ of "Natural Law in the Spiritual World,” a work which has elicited much criticism, and is now in the 29 th edition. The late Professor Drummond also wrote some interesting accounts of travels, the most noticeable of which is “ Tropical Africa.”
