ATHLETIC.

AMATEUR ATHLETIC GLOB'S SPORTS. Saturday was a fine day, but the population of Wellington .seemed to be restless, and there were very few at the meeting held by the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club on the Basin Keserve. It was a bad day on which to hold the sports, but those who attended were given a good afternoon's entertainment. The going was good, and some fast racing was witnessed. C. E. Bridge was in great fettle, winning three events —the 120yds Junior Handicap, the '2soyds Handicap, and the Quarter-mile. In the last-named event he had fifteen yards and won comfortably. The time, 52 2--jseo, was fairly swift. Although four entries were received for the Three-mile Flat Handicap, none tamed out, and the event was struck off the list. F. C. Angell should have won the mile. He left his run until too late, and ■.Vim only beaten by a yard or so. As it is he beat the standard time, and gets an Association badge. - n the high jump, A.
