Tbo woather was most favourable for the second day's racing of the Wellington R.C. last week. There was a larg'O attendance, and those who attended spent a most pleasurable day. The going was good. The arrangements were up to the mark, which says a groat deal for the management of Mr H. M. Lyon, secretary. Mr J. Amos controlled the machines, and put through a good amount. The big event went to Waiuku, the son of St. Leger and Musket Maid, but there v/as a protest on the ground that his running wag not consistent with bis' effort bn the first day. After hearing 'evidence,' 1 the stewards denicU& td'dishiisa protest. Ho carried 71b £&halty later oh the. day'in tho H\\tt Park Spjing-Hanjdibap, furlongs, and beat seven others, including Armilla, the dual Vfinhe? on the first day. Another protest was entered, Mafiaki’s me? alleging that there wa? a cr-ose which interfered with his prospects. The objection was not sustained. The Guardsman, winner of the Flying Han-, dicap, was sold before the race for ,£IQ,Q 4 toga South.

During the day <£7780 was put through the machine, which was .£383 more than the first day’s total. The start was fair, and at the hill Errand Boy led Waiuku and Strathbraan. At the back the cerise jacket on Martyrdom was prominent, the mare going through her field. Mahaki also went up and looked dangerous. In the turn Errand Boy still led, going very strongly. Lotion ran up fourth, but he had no chance. A couple went very wide in the straight, where Errand Boy, Mahaki, Waiuku and Orion’s Belt were the leading horses ; the latter was on the outside. There was a clinking race up the straight, Waiuku just getting home by a length from Errand Boy. Bangipuhi was fourth, Mahaki fifth, Golden Plover sixths and Lotion next. Time, lmin 58£sec. The purple jacket was in front all the way, Eevolution, who struck the stand hurdle, being last. Kauri Gum struck at the back. Eevolution was quite out of it before the turn was reached. Conscript was going’ very strongly, and came home under the whip by about half a length. Tally-ho, who raced very honestly, was third. Eevolution was bad last. Nc time was taken. £7; 13s.
