NOMINATIONS, WEIGHTS, etc. Weights for the first day's races will be declared on or before FKIDAY, the 27th November, 1896, at 9 p.m., and for the second day's races, except Consolation, on THURSDAY, 10th December, at 9 p.m. Acceptances for the first day's races, and entries for the Maiden Hack close with the Secretary on FRIDAY, 4th December, 1896, at 9 p.m., and for the second day's races on THURSDAY, 10th December, at 9 p.m. Nominations for Consolation Hack will be received after the Telegraph Stakes has been run and the weights declared after the Hack Welter. Acceptances fifteen minutes after declaration of weights. RULES AND REGULATIONS. All races to be run under the New Zealand Rules of Racing. In case of protest the same must be lodged with the Secretary within fifteen minutes after the race has been run, with a deposit of two pounds, such deposit to be forfeited if the protest be found frivolous or vexatious. No scratching of horses allowed except through the secretary, and 30 minutes before the time of starting. No entry will be received for any race unless on the condition that all claims, disputes and objections arising shall be decided by the stewards or whom they may appoint, and their decision upon all points shall be final. All nominations, entries and acceptances, n.flcomi):ir,i(3(l by the necessary amount, must hi; addressed to the secretary, CJucen street, Masterton. The stewards reserve the right to re-handi-cap the winners o£ races after the handicaps have been declared. No entry will bo received after the hour named on any pretence whatever. Any jockey riding except in colours shall be fined two sovs. Tho amount for second and third horso shall be deducted from the advertised amount of stakes. Horses walking over will recoivo 50 per cent, of the stakes. DEFINITION OF A. HACK. A hack is a horse that has never won an advertised race at any time, hack or huntor races excepted, nnd is not or has not been nominated in any race other than hack races at the same meeting.
