THE TERRACE GAOL.
In connection with the proposal to transform the Terrace Gaol into a temporary lunatic usylum, the Premier has sent the following- reply to representations made by the Mayor (Mr Fishor) on tho part of residents on the Terrace against any such transformation :
'•Mr George Fisher, Wellington -Re Terrace gaol: After careful consideration of the representations made by you personally to me on the subject, I am inclined to think that there is a great deal in the contention sent forward by you on behalf of the property-owners of the looality, and that the buildings could be put to a better use than that proposed by the Government. I will submit the matter to Cabinet for consideration immediately upon my arrival in Wellington.—R. J. fc'eddon. Jackson's."
