The London Times has received and tabulated in all nearly 16,000 reports of this year's crops in England, and the result is that, with the exception of the wheat crop, there is not "a single bright spot in the agricultural history of the season which is now hastening to its close." A first-class judge of fat cattle, who has been attending shows in this and other colonies for 23 years, states that the exhibits of fat stock at the show last week were the best he had ever seen south of the line. Mr A. McHardy, of Hawlce's Bay, the principal prize-taker, sold a number of his exhibits to a Christchurch breeder, and they will be shipped away at once to compete at the Dunedin show.
