THE PETONE MURDER.
NO BILL FOUND BY THE GRAND JURY IN THE CASE AGAINST SHORE. ACCUSED DISCHARGED FROM CUSTODY. The Petono murder ease, the circumstances surrounding - which are .still fresh in the minds of readers of the New Zealand Mail, was before the Grand Jury at the Supreme Court on Monday. it will be remembered that just after this murder was discovered, a young - married man, well known in Petone, James Shore, was arrested and subsequently committed for trial. Absorbing interest was, of course, manifested in Iris trial, and the Court was crowded on Monday to hoar the evidence for the Crown, and also that for the defence, which was rumoured to be a very strong one However, the Grand Jury, alter a lengthened deliberation, returned into Court late in the evening, and announced that they had found no bill against James Shore. Shortly afterwards .Miore was released from the Terrace Gaol, and set at liberty once more. It speaks well for him that he had courted enquiry into the case, and when informed of the decision of the Grand Jury, he said that he would rather the case had gone to a jury, for then lie would have hod his chance to make an explanation and eh'.ir himself in the eyes of the world. On leaving the gaol he was met by numerous friends, and received their congratulations.
