A novel kind of pilgrimage, which will assuredly provoke some sympathy in this country, has just been organised by the beerdrinkers of Berlin. Under the patronage of St. Gambrinus a band of pious votaries will set forth this month to visit all the brewing cenlres of Germany from Munich to Filsen. As it is intended in the course of a week to halt at .Nuremberg, Dresden, Leipzig. Culmbach, and a dozen other towns where the cult of rnait and hops flourishes in all its pride, the work of the pilgrims is cut out for them, and not a few may be expected to fall by the way. The promoters of tho enterprise themselves appear to be rather nervous lest tho zeal of their folllowcrs should carry them away. They append to the programme a warning that the eyes of the empire will be upon them, and that it is hoped they will bear themselves in a manner worthy of citizens who hail from tho imperial capital. What a pity it is that age and failing health prevent Prince Bismarck from heading the procession, as he certainly would have loved to do in the day of his prime.
