NEW ZEALAND'S TOURIST RESORTS.

Arrangements have been made by the Lands Department to give increased inducement "to the tourist traffic to Mount Cook, and to make things comfortable at the Hermitage. Mr Fife, the Alpine climber, who was the first to reach the summit of Mount Cook, has been engaged as guide, and Mr and Mrs Ross are to take charge of the Hermitage and grounds, which are to be put into thoroughly good order. The road between Pukaki and Mount Cook will also bo repaired, and, if possible, arrangements will be made with the Postal Department to run a four-horse coach at least once a week between Fairlie and Mount Cook via Pukaki.

At Hammer Springs considerable inconvenience is at present felt by patients in a bad state of health, because the two hotels are some distance away from the springs, in consequence it is now proposed to built a small accommodation house near tho grounds for visitors who may be affected by tho trip between the springs and the present hotels. Mr Robert Hay, of Dunedin, has visited Rotorua, and will report as to the best system of sanitation to bo adopted in that township. He has also visited Te Aroha, and will give his opinion as to the means to bo adopted to conserve (lie water supply there.
