THE LABOUR WORLD.

The fortnightly meeting of the Wellington Carriers' Union "was held last week in the Truro Hall, the president, Mr A. Orr, in the chair. A deputation was appointed to wait upon the City Council in regard to suggested improvements to the shelter sheds, and the amendment of certain by-laws re charges. A deputation was also setup to interview the manager of the Manawatu Railway Company in respect to the better management of vehicular traffic at their station. A. hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr T. M. Wilford, the Union's solicitor, and to Mr W. Wilson, a member cf the Union, for past services. It was decided to hold all future meetings in the Temperance Hall, Ceurtenay place. An election was held on Friday to fill a vacancy on the Board of Conciliation, representing the industrial district of Wellington. There were only two candidates, Messrs Andrew Collins and William C. Miles. Mr Collins was elected, receiving 14 votes and Mr Miles one.

It is reported that the cab-owners propose to lock out all men carrying the Union flag. The Union has appealed to the Duke of Grafton, and a conference is pending.
