The Dalefield, Belvedere and TarataM Dairy Companies have sold out their new season's output of cheese at highly satisfactory prices. The bulk is to be white cheese. I regret to have to report the death of Mr Duncan McMarster, at his residence, Tuhitarata Estate, t n Saturday, after a lingering illness. The late Mr McMaster, be-ides his own station, managed the McMaster estate. lie was one of the largest cattle-breeders in the Wairarapa, and took ma' y prizes at the Wellington and Wairarapa shows for purebred shorthorns. The late Mr McMaster's illness was of a mysterious character, aid a puzzle to the doctors. He gradually wasted away and before the end was literally skin and bones. At the meeting of" the Greytown Rifle Club last week, the following officers were elected:—President, Mr W. C. Buchanan, M. H R, ; vice-presidents, Messrs Hillier, F. H. Wood, J. D. Heagerty, C. Rogers, L. St. George, C. Tully, and Dr Bey ; vice captain, Mr 11. Wa den ; Mr Walden J was re elected secretary and treasurer, and Mr R. Wylie auditor, and Messrs Izard, Haycock, Brunton, Skeet, Malcolm and Rowse, as match and general committee. The season will open on Thursday. The Wairarapa Racing Club have at last decided to give up the old Moroa racing course lease. They have Veen using the grounds as a training track for years, but the "swaggers" are destroying the buildings and fences and the property is in consequence depreciating in vaiue. The training wiil- now be done on the Tauherenikau course.

The Annual meeting of the congregation of the Presbyterian Church was held last week. The treasurer's statement showed the church to be in a sound financial position. The receipts for the j r ear exceeded the expenditure by .£34, A.n excellent, programme of vocal and instrumental music made up a pleasant and profitable evening. The Friendly Societies of Carterton will hold a torch-light procession and concert on Thursday, 23rd instant, in aid of the Brass Band. A good deal of energy is being put into this "band" movement, and it is likely to meet with the success it deserves.

The District Officers of the 1.0.0. F., M.U., visit here on the 30th instant. P.P.G.M. Bro Avery, and C. S. Bro J. Kershaw, of Wellington, will be present. After the routine business there will be a " spread " in the lodge rooms. Messrs Buchanan, Hogg and Pratt, M.'sH.lt., returned to the Wairarapa on Saturday night, with their *' swags" and " billies," the session of 78 days' duration having been brought to. a close. Mr Coleman Phillips is the only one in the field against Mr Buchanan for the Wairarapa seat. It is not considered probable that Mr Phillips will go to the poll.
