THE GOTHIC, FROM LONDON. I he Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's fine steamer Gothic arrived here on Sunday afternoon from London, via Capetown and Hobart. She left Plymouth on Saturday, tho 18th April, at 3.18 p.m., and experienced fine weather to Tencriiie, arriving there at 0.50 a.m. on the 23rd. She left again the sumo day at noon, and a continuance of fine weather was experienced, accompanied for a few days with moderate north-easterly trades. She left again tho same I day at 1.3(p.m., and arrived otf the Spit at I 4.50 a.m. and reached Wellington Harbour at ! 1.30 p.m. on Sunday. I Tho Gothic encountered a moderate gale ! from south-west, with a heavy sea, on May I 15th in latitude 45deg. 20min. south, longitude ! 59deg. 4.omm. east, which lasted for two days, j and for several days previous to arrival at I Hobart foggy weather was experienced. The I usual sports and entertainments were held by 1 the passengers. A fancy dress ball, arranged | to take place just previous to arrival at Capoi town, had to be postponed owing to the ' weather, but those passengers who had proi pared special costumes for the occasion wore them at dinner, some causing great amusement. The Gothic landed at Tcnenfle 10 saloon passengers and Capetown 11 saloon and 173 steerage, at Hobart 20 saloon and 20 steerage for Australia. The steamer brings for New Zealand ports 3d saloon and 41 steerage, also 3200 tons general cargo. She lands 1000 tons of railway iron and 500 tons of general cargo here, and then sails for Lyttclton, where 1000 tors of general cargo will be landed. From Lyttclton she goes to Dunedin and discharges 500 tons, leaving Lyttclton for London ou the 25th oi this month.
