There are great rejoicings in South Africa at President Kruger's promise to do bis host to obtain a mitigation of the sentences upon tho Reformers. His attitude is regarded as a pledge of racial reunion. Stocks have risen 50 percent., and President Kruger has been loudly cheered in Johannesburg. The members of the Reform Committee who were released visited President Kruger and cheered him. J. 11. Hammond has been liberated on parole, in order that ho may visit his wife, who is dying. W. D. Eavis (of West Australia) and A. W. Sampson havo been detained in custody, as they declined to petition for tho remission of thoir sentences.
