A correspondent of the Amcrknii A<jricaltuml gives the following as an easy way of killing smut spores in oats seed : llun the seed through a good fanning mill. Spread out on a clear barn floor and sprinkle villi water until quite wet. Scatter slaked lime over the dampened grain until the seed is quite white. Shovel the oats about until the lime is thoroughly mixed in, and let the heap lay twelve hours or more before sowing.
