RACING IN NEW ZEALAND.

OTA ICr MAORI RACING CLUB’S HACK AI MUTING. The Hack Meeting held by the Otaki Maori Racing Club at their course on Monday was the most successful tho Club has over held. The weather was fine, and there was a good attendance, about 1500 people being oil the course, a large number of visitors coming from Palmerston North and Wellington. The various officials carried out their respective duties in a satisfactory manner. The Otaki Alaori Band, under Bandmaster Ciniino, played a programme of music during tho day. Air Joseph Ames had charge of the totalisator, and the working of the machine gave satisfaction to the public. Speculation was brisk, and a record for the Club was established, the sum of M3BIG being put through the machine, as against M 3537 last year. There was some capital racing, large fields and well fought-ont finishes being the rule. The principal event, tho Otaki Plate, was won by the well-bred Crimson Streak.
