OPENING OF THE NEW POST BUILDINGS.

Tho opening of tho new and very fine promises of our contemporary, the Evening Post, camoolf successfully on Tuesday afternoon. Owing to the necessities of getting out tlie paper a general invitation to the public had to be reluctantly abandoned. Tho reception was semi-private, and of a professional character. A largo number of journalists and the many friends of the proprietors and the stall' were present, and having inspected the building and partaken of refreshments, proceeded to the engineroom to .see tho presses in motion.

In rosponso to calls, Mr I). M. Lnckio proposed tho health of tho proprietors and the prosperity of tho paper in its now homo. Mr John Blundell responded in appropriate and modest terms. Then tho machinery, consisting of two very flno web rotary machines, was started, amid loud cheering and waving of hats, by Mrs John and Airs Henry Blundell, tho traditional christening bottle of champagne having boon previously broken on tho iioad of each of tho machines by tho Misses Mabel, Elsie and Kathleen Blundell.

Among those present was Air T. McKenzie, tho father of Wellington journalism, who received an ovation from the pressmen wherever ho appeared in tho building. Editor Lukin’s room is as luxurious and well appointed as that of a Prime Minister, while tho counting houso, under the urbane and capable management of Air Robert Bannistor, is business sublimated into a poetic dream.
