THE “SCOUR” IN CALVES It is calculated that fully 20,000 calves have, in the past, died annually in this ! Colony from the complaint known as tno “Scours.” This represents a loss to the | farmers of, at least, ,£2.»,otM). There is i.o necessity for calves to die from scours, if tho proper remedy i> used in time. Mr Alex. Colson, of New Plymouth, so well and widely known in connection with the stock sales of Mr Newton Kim:, the well-known auctioneer says: " There is no mistake, those Scour Drenches nude by Ellis, of Stratford, are a wonderful rc ue Iv. I never saw anything c'|U't! to them, i had some calves, the other il ty, lying almost dead from .scour. I gave them one do.-o each, just on the off ehaneo, hardly expecting them to live. Next day those same calves were strong and well, and as lively as crickets. I strongly recommend every farmer to keep them by him, for I can guarantee if ho uses them in tiino ho will never have his calves die from tho Scours.” These Drenches may lie obtained through all storekeepers, at Is tkl per packet, with full directions ; or they will ho sent free by post on receipt of tho amount, in postal notes from the solo manufacturer, W. The English Board of Agriculture has forbidden. New South Wales to re-ship foreign stud sheep to London after they have undergone a fortnight’s quarantine in accordance with the stock regulations of the colony. Sir Saul Samuel, AgentGeneral for the colony, has protested. There is nothing more annoying, or likely to lead to more confusion, than indistinct addresses. Farmers should note that it is more business-like, and that it saves time to have their names and addresses printed on their memo forms and envelopes. They can get five hundred forms printed with envelopes to match at the Mail office for 12s 6d.
