SAILORS’ REST.
'.Tlm annual meeting of the subscribers | to tlm Bailors’ Rost was hold on Tuesday evening at the Rest, Jorvois quay, Mr (j. D. Barraud in the chair. 'The secretary (Mr L. 11. B. Wilson) read tho annual report, which regretted tlm death of Mr W. F. ‘Wheeler. In the absence of any nominations by the contributors, tho committee had nominated Messrs W. Ferguson, D. Hall, J. Murrell, h’. Loudon and A. 11. 'Turnbull to fill the vacancies on the committee. Tho revenue during tho past year amounted to £IBO 5s Bd, and tho expenditure to £l4B 9s lOd, leaving a balance in hand of £3l 15s lOd, against which there are outstanding liabilities of about £25. The attendance showed a slight falling-off in numbers during tho daytime, but an increase in the number of sailors from ships in port at night. Tho report was adopted, and tho additional members of the committee were elected. A vote of thanks to tho chairman concluded the meeting.
