POST AND TELEGRAPH DEPARTMENT.

Numerous changes in the staffs of tho various telegraph offices liavo been rendered necessary as a consequence of the alteration in tho scale of telegraph messages which comes into force on June Ist.

Those which affect Wellington city and tho surrounding district are as follow : Wellington office.—Transferred to AVellington—Air McKinnon, from Palmerston North ; Air Cowles, from Foxton; Messrs Carmine, Brosnahan and Creagh, from Napier ; Messrs Reid, Donald (cadet), R. C. O’Connor, from Dunedin ; Messrs Ormsby, Grand (cadet), Delaney (cadet), Brower, Holmes (cadet), from Christchurch ; Air Thompson, from Greymouth ; Mr Bennetts, from Invercargill; and Air Fookos, from New Plymouth. Distributor Hancock, promoted to cadetship, replaced by a senior messenger and by new messenger. Distributor Doull, promoted to cadetship, replaced by a senior messenger and by new messenger. Cadet Clark transferred to Napier, and will be replaced by Cadet Anderson from Westport, and Mr Russell is transferred to Christchurch.

Featborstoii—Assistant Wilkinson to Foxton as cadet, replaced by now messenger. Hutt—Alessenger Hall to Motueka as cadet, replaced by- now messenger. Grey town North Messenger Fuller to Rangiora as cadet, replaced by now messenger ; Letter-carrier Brooks to Kaikoura as cadot, replaced by Messenger Eccleton as letter-carrier and by new messenger. Otaki—Cadot Scott to bo transferred from Hokitika (additional officer). Paliiatua—Air McKittrick transferred to Hastings, replaced by Mr Olsen from Wairoa ; Alessenger Dawson to Woodville as cadet, replaced by new messenger. Palmerston North—Mr AlcCrae to Wanganui, replaced by Messenger Scott, promoted to a cadetship, and by new messenger; Mr AlcKinnon transferred to Wellington, replaced by Distributor Mowlem, promoted to cadetship, by senior messenger and by new messenger.

Woodville Cadet Allan transferred to Napier, replaced by Messenger Dawson from Paliiatua as cadet.

Carterton—Alessenger Hansen to Afarton as cadet, replaced by new messenger. Napier—Cadet Munro, transferred from Whangarei; Cadet Clark from Wellington ; Air AlcLaughlin from Dunedin; Air Brosnahan transferred to Wellington, replaced by Alessenger Mclntosh, from Master ton, as cadet; Mr Carmine, to Wellington, replaced by Messenger Campbell, from Waipu, as cadet; Mr Creagh, to Wellington, replaced by Cadet Allan, from Woodville ; Distributor Hamlin, to be cadet at AVaipawa (additional officer), replaced by senior messenger and by now messenger. The appointment of an additional messenger is approved, and a second one if it should he found necessary. Dunevirko Alossonger Quinlan, transferred to Ashburton as cadot; replaced by now messenger.

Waipukurau—Mr Gibbons to Hamilton, replaced by Cadet Smith from Ohacawai. Wanganui Distributor Callendav to bo cadet ; Mr Kemp transferred to Wanganui from Gisborne; Cadet Boyd transferred from Hawera, Cadot Bryant from Marlon, Air McCrea from Palmerston North ; Distributor A. N. Davis’ appointment confirmed ; Distributor 11. G. Davis transferred to. Groymouth as cadet, replaced by Alessenger Pliilp and by new messenger. Hawera—Cadet Boyd transferred to Wanganui, replaced by Alessenger Kilvington as cadet, replaced by new messenger if cligiblo. Alarton Cadet Bryant transferred to Wanganui, replaced by Alessenger Hansen from Carterton as cadet.

Bulls—Cadet Burgess transferred to Dunedin, replaced by Messenger Saywoll from Manaia as cadet and by new messenger. Waverloy—Messenger Anderson transferred to Christchurch as cadot, replaced by now messenger.
