A NEW VISION SEEN.
Paris, April 14. While tho Society of Psychical Research is hopelessly divided ovor the question of tho supernatural nature of Milo. Couosdon’s prophecies, a fresh story comes from Tilly sur Soullos, a tvwn in tho Department of Calvados. Ono afternoon, a month ago, a little girl in the convent school suddenly exclaimed to her teacher: — “Look out of tho window. There is tho good Virgin.” The nun and fifty pupils turned their eyes in that direction, and declared that they behold what appeared to bo a statue of tho Virgin, with tho infant Jesus in her arms, at the foot of a tree, surrounded by a brilliant halo.
This story has sufficed to attract any number of pilgrims to the spot, not only from every corner of Calvados, but from the neighbouring departments of Orno and Alancho. On last Sunday (April l2tli) upward of 1200 credulous folk travelled to Tilly sur Seulles for the purpose of visiting the spot, and every evening fully 500 person 1 ! gather round the tree to pick off tho hark for relics. In short, tho whole countty is in a state of excitement, as might have been expected. Reports have spread that miracles have already been wrought. The natural explanation of tho phenomenon is to be attributed to the phosphorescent effects produced by the lime kilns, which are numerous there. Some of the members of St. Paul’s congregation liavo presented the church wit.i an altar dosel and pulpit and prayer desk frontalh of a colour appropriate to the season. They have been very beautifully worked by Miss Quick and Miss Katie Mason, the material having been supplied by a lew friends. The vicar (Rev I. H. Sprott) thanked tho donors from tho pulpit on Sunday. lla also returned thanks lor a large sum of money deposited to his credit for Mrs Sprott’s approaching visit to Australia. J b donors did not reveal their names, and he, therefore, expressed his gratitude to tho parishioners generally for their kindness.
