WRECKS ON THE AUSTRALIAN COAST.

Very heavy general rain wit h fierce gales has been experienced all along tho coast for tho last -IS hours.
Three wrecks are reported. Tho coasting steamer Bjron with a cargo of coal foundered this forenoon off Newcastle.
Her crew, consisting of nino inou, narrowly escaped. They had barely time to leave in a boat boforo tho vessel went under, and they wore subsequently picked up by a lifeboat and landed safely. Tho schooner Conding and barquentino Karoola wore driven ashore and wrockod at Morna Point, noar Nelson’s Bay. The crew of tho former vossol escaped safely in a boat; but a boat containing tho Karoola’s ciow capsized and tho mate was drowned. Tho others were washed ashoro completely exhausted. Ono seaman was so far gone that ho died shortly after reaching land.
The Karoola was bound from Lyttolton to Sydney. Sho was off port somo days ago, and was driven north by tho galo. At tho time of tho accident sho was seeking shelter. Only meagre particulars of the disaster aro yet to hand.
Shipping generally has been delayed by tho weather.
