Tn the course of a leader _ the Daily Chronicle of April 14th says : Priccs.of farm produce have hardened a little during the past week, but are still very unsatisfactory. There have been abundant supplies of New Zealand lamb, which is now in prime condition, and can bo got lor about Gd a pound. Tho’ lirst supplies of Tasmanian apples are beginning to come in, and tho quality promises to he better than ever. The Lands and Survey Department have prepared a pamphlot containing complete details of the Klsthorpo estate, Hawke’s Bay, which was recently acquired by the Government under tho Lands for Settlement Act, and is to bo put in the market on the 2 4th prox. Tho pamphlet is beautifully illustrated, and contains a very useful map of the estate. Copies of tho pamphlet may be obtained at tho various Land Offices in the Colony. Cattlo stealing is an operation not out of existence in Stratford,and the local constable having applied for further help in getting evidence, Detectivo Bishop, of Wellington, has now arrived to give assistance, and will probably remain there until a permanent extra policeman is provided.
