BISHOP NEVILL’S SILVER JUBILEE.
Ail address congratulating tho highest ecclesiastical dignitary of the .Southern city on the occasion of his silver jubilee lias boon numerously signed hero by former residents of Otago. Apart from churchmen the Bishop is also respected by a large number of people who are not of the Anglican communion, on account of the practical sympathy he has always shown in connection with scientific, philanthropic and various other social organisations, and the Catholic Church is worthily represented by a number of gentlemen who belong to the Presbyterian, Wesleyan and other branches. Among tlie-e are the signatures of Mr Justice Deinii.-doii and Rev W. Rumnber (president of the Now Zealand Wesleyan Conference), while among those who claim membership with tho English Church are tho signatures of Sir James Prendergast and tho Rev Richard Coffey. It was from tho house of the latter gentleman that Bishop Nevill was consecrated to fill the Dunedin see 25 years ago on the 4th proximo. Those who liavo hold oflico as Ministers of tho Crown aro represented by Sir Robert Stout and tho Hon G. F. Richardson, and prominent members of tho legal profession, bankers, Civil servants, and a number connected with the mercantile and trading community have also contributed to and signed tho address. When the illuminated portion is completed it will he on view in the window of Mr McGregor Wright, La.ubton quay, for a day or two previous to being sent on to Dunedin.
