DROWNING OF MR KEYWORTH.
At 12.20 a.m. on Satunlay, just beforo the Wainui left Grey for Westport, Mr G. If, Keyworth, tho popular chief officer of the steamer, just as he was taking the draught of the vessel, was seen to stumble over Iho mooring lines and fall into the river. Lifebuoys were quickly thrown to him and a boat was on the spot a few minutes later, but no trace could lie found of the deeoased. The body was recovered on Sunday, and arrived by the Grafton. Mr Keyworth came out in the Tarawera iu 18:1! as third officer, and was promoted to be second officer, in which capacity lie acted both on the Tarawera and the Wakatipu; in ISSS he became chief officer of the Maitai; in 1831) he was transferred to the Kawatiri, and in 1S:H) he became chief officer of the Tekapo, leaving that vessel to become chief officer of the Wainui in 1892. His untimely fate is deeply regretted. He leaves a .vile and four children to mourn his loss. Deceased’s life is insured for £fioo.
