A deputation recently waited upon tho Dunedin City Council’s General Committee, and urged that a stop be put to Sunday concerts, the Hon W. D. Stewart instancing what had boon done in Wellington. ’The Mayor promised that tho concerts would be stopped if possible. Tho Nelson people, it is understood, arc about to petition t.lm Minister in charge of tho police to have the police headquarters removed from Groyniouth to their own district. Meanwhile Sergeant iviely, of Napier, has been transferred to Nelson to fill tho vacancy caused by the promotion of Sergeant-Major Pratt to lie Inspector at Greyinoutli.
Tho OLaki Mail states lliat Sir Walter Bailor has leased his Papaitonga estate, Ohau, to a gentleman lately managing Messrs Pascal’s station at Kercru.
