After crossing the first hurdle, Timothy took a strong lead, and as The Plug came to grief at the post and rails, 'timothy was left with 20 lengths’ lead of Morag, who was a long way in trout of Mutiny and Tiritea. Except that Morag got on terms with the leader, this order was maintained for a mile, when Timothy began to fall behind, and rounding the hill bend the last time the race looked a certainty for Morag, but he came down at the sod wall, and, notwithstanding that Sweeney made a wonderful recovery, Mutiny got up, and taking his fences kindly won by six lengths ; Timothy a good third.
