Lord Grey, the Administrator for the Chartered Company, that the rebellion is broken, and he hopes that it will be crushed altogether before the arrival of the troops. Buluwayo, in his opinion, is as safe as London.

A petition is being signed in Buluwayo asking that Mr Rhodes be retained at the head of the Chartered Company.
The Dutch press has adopted a more friendly tone toward England, but the Berlin press denounces Mr Chamberlain for defending Mr Rhodes. Capetown, May (i. The rebels at Buluwayo and Gwelo aro disappearing. The authorities fear that it will not be easy to punish them for the outbreak-. Captain Gilford's mounted troops met and fought a band of 300 Matabele. Two weie killed and the rest scon beat a retreat.
Capetown, May 9 The orders for the troops to advance beyond Mafeking have been cancelled. A. number of white people are besieged at Belmgwe. London, May 11. The Buluwayo Stock Exchange has been converted into a hospital. Capetown, May 10.
A force of 200 cavalry and 300 foot, with four Maxim guns, is leaving Buluwayo to endeavour to effect a junction with Mr Cecil Rhodes at Gwelo.
Sir Hercules Robinson sails for England on the 20th inst.
