CECIL RHODES.
London, May 5
It is reported that Mr Cecil Rhodes and Mr Alfred Beit have resigned their positions in the Chartered Company. London, May 6.
The Standard says that Mr Rhodes oilers, if Mr Chamberlain desires, to retire from tho control of the Chartered Company, and return to England forthwith, also'to resign his seat in the Privy Council.
Cabinet are considering whether they hall call upon him to do so.
London, May 7. There is a strong feeling among the members of tho House of Commons interested in Africa that if Mr Rhodes is suddenly recalled it will seriously aggravate tho pjv.s-'iit troubles. Capetown, May 8, It is reported that several bands of tho Malabelo are lying in ambush in Shangani forest, waiting for Mr Rhodes on his way to Duluwayo.
