THE MINISTER OF LANDS.
Banoiora, May 12
Tho Hon J. McKenzie, who is on a four days' visit to North Canterbury, addressed_ a crowded mooting at Rangiora to-night, Mr T. Keir, Mayor, in the chair. The Minister, who met with a cordial reception, spoke for two and a half hours, refuting Opposition statements, particularly those made recently by Mr Allen to tho Bruce electors. He dealt'fully with most of the main political questions, and outlined future legislation, tho proposals in regard to the FanKent Bill, public auditors for companies' accounts, abolition of special juries, and State fire insurance being heartily applauded by tho audience. Tho applause throughout the meeting was frequent and hearty. A vote of thanks to tho speaker and confidence in tho Government was carried with but one dissentient.
