GUN LICENSES.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, 1 have, shot in the Manawatu district for more, than 15 years, and am satisfied that any attempt on the part of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society to preserve native and imported game is quite useless, unless the indiscriminate carrying of guns aud Sunday shooting is done away with. 1 was shooting at tho end of last season at Tokomaru, and got three brace of cock pheasants, beating along tho small woods on the side of tho river Tokomaru. Yesterday I shot over the same ground, aud only saw three, and was told by several settlers that there had been .shooting going on every Sunday since March began. Now, what possible show have, people got who fake out a, license and begin on the lot of May? Tho gun license is the only cure and the abolishing of Sunday shooting everywhere.—l am, Ac, H.J. Leo yd. Waimarino, Palmerston North, May 3rd, 1890.
