ORMONDVILLE.

A eoi n : poll If;iit in t'.e ;:! ovc township I

Some little time ago a letter appeared in a Wellington paper with relation, to the removals now taking place amongst members of the Police Force, and drawing special attention to the Ormondville constable, wdio had been some ten years in the district. Now, sir, when a constable has been that length of time iu a district without a Bi'nglccomplaint

against him, I think, if. would be very unwise to remove him. His knowledge of the people enables him to give much advice, which prevents many a lawsuit and saves much expense. Then his general knowledge of the district enables him to obtain statistics with great facility. The letter referred to staled that " no complaints were made," and certainly it would be hard to make any. The people are orderly, the hotels well kept, and tho larrikin element very small. '\}io great objection raised was the length of time he hail resided in the district. I think constables can be found who have resided nearer twenty years than ten iu the same town, and though the friends of Constable Kiddells would be glad to see his advancemen,-; they won! 1 be very sorry to see his removal.
