Li Hung Chang, who is to represent China at the coronation of the Czar, was given a great reception on landing at Odessa, Constantinople, April 28. Mr Napp,tho American missionary, who was expelled from Diarbokr, in Armenia, has been released from custody. Lisbon', April 2S. Portugal has permitted Great Britain to Convey arms through her territory at Boira, in Portuguese East Africa, the nearest port to Matabeleland. Honokong, April 30. Tho steamer Newch-wang collided with the steamer Onwo off Woosung. Tho latter sank, and 200 Chinese were drowned. Madrid, April 30. Prolonged drought is ruining the Spanish crops. Berlin, May 1. Professor Goil'cken has been killed by the explosion of a petroleum lamp. Much excitement was caused towards tho end of ISBB in Court and political circles by the publication in tho Deutsche llundschau of a portion of a diary stated to have been compiled by
the late Emperor Frederick, and thi3 led to tho confiscation of the paper and tho arrest of Dr Geffcken, who it was alleged supplied tho information. The proceedings against tho Professor were subsequently abandoned. Buda Pesth, May 3.
Tho Emperor has opened an exhibition in Buda Pesth, in celebration of the thousandth anniversary of the Hungarian Kingdom.
