At a meeting of tho Amalgamated Society of lilngineers on Saturday evening Messrs H. Warner and T. Brooker, a deputation, urged that the Society should join the federation of unaffiliated unions. Then he got back to the saddle, and proceeded to admonish the animal in a fooling manner, but the horse resented the interference with its liberty by lying down. Though, after mine persuasion, it got on its legs again, no amount of entreaty would induce i!- to proceed further on its way, and horse and rider had to turn back, the one with (he air of victory, the other humiliated.
