MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

The man Robert Livingston was again before the Magistrate's Court yesterday week on the elnrge of stealing a coat from the Union Clothing Company. The facts of this case were detailed in the Mail last week. The man stated that ho thought there should he a medical enquiry into his case. Ho originally came from England, and thought he should he stmt back there. Mr Greenfield, S.M., said that ho had done a very wrong thing in stealing so as to bring his case before tho Court. As ho had been in custody for several days he would I e discharged. Inspector Render recommended that Livingston should see Huddart, Parker and Company with reference to a passage ticket.

At Foathorstonlast week t women named J. Sommersand A. Boss were brought before Messrs Reynolds and Ciindy, J.B.'s, charged with having uttered two cheques, knowing tho same to be forgeries. The accused have been remanded, bail being granted if it can be obtained for £IOO each and two sureties of £SO each. W. Perrin, licensee of the Exchange Hotel, Napier, has been convicted on two charges—one of serving customers after 11 o'clock at night, and tho other of having a barmaid in tho bar after that hour. 110 was lined 50s on each cbargo and the license endorsed.

Fabian, claim £2l, value of a bicycle alleged to have been lent by plaintiffs to defendant, for the purpose of lowering the road record between Napier an 1 Wellington. Henry Clark and John Willeocks were fined 5s each and costs at the Magistrate's Court on Friday for not in constant attcndar.ee at their expresses on the stand in Jorvois quay. James Malley, John Sancton and Michael O'Brien, for not having sufficient lights on their vehicles, were fined 5s and costs. For tho larceny of a coat, valued at 221 Od, tho property of James Smith, To Aro House, James Wilson, who pleaded guilty, was sentence. 1 , to throe months' imprisonment with hard labour. George King, who was charged with vagrancy on Thursday morning, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour.
