Christchurch, April 28. Several telegrams have been passing between tho trotting club authorities in Christchurch and those in Hawke’s Bay respecting a mare which ran at races in the latter province under the name of Clive, hut which the Canterbury trotting officials allege is the mare Fiona. Yesterday tho officials of the local trotting clubs telegraphed to Napier urging criminal proceedings in the matter. Napier, April 28. At a special meeting of the stewards of tho i Hawke’s Bay Metropolitan Trotting Club evidence was adduced that tho brown mare which trotted in the Maiden Saddle event at 1 fastings in March, 1891, under the name of Clive was the mare Fiona. As a result the stewards unanimously resolved that Amos Clegg, the nominator and rider ol the mare, be disqualified for life, and that a copy of the evidence and tho resolution be sent to Clegg and tho various trotting clubs throughout the Colony.
