TRADES COUNCIL.

The weekly meeting of the Trades Council was held last week, Mr It. C. Jones (president) in the chair. It was decided that the Premier Ire asked to deliver a political address in Wellington at an early date. A reply was received from the Wellington branch of the Australasian Institute of Marine Engineers stating that they would be pleased to receive a deputation from the Council on the question of affiliation, as suggested by tho latter body. Tho interview will take place on Monday evening next, and Messrs A. Collius, W. P. McGirr, F. Roger, P. Brown,W. Hutchison and tho executive officers will represent the Council.

It was also decided that a deputation should attend the meeting of the Tailoresses’ Union on Monday next to consider the question of the reorganisation of tho Union.

The question of whether or not a labour momber should bo supported for the city at tho next general election was briefly considered, and then adjourned for a month.
