NOTES.

By Fan cm;

By the Matafua, which arrived in Auckland from Home a week or ten days ago, Mr Williamson, a most enthusiastic Auckland fancier, received two first-class specimens of the bull dogiype.

1 inust congratulate Mr Williamson on his enterprise in introducing to the Colony new blood like this in a class that is now in great demand and of which we have so few good dogs. There is money to be made with this class of dog, and I wish Mr Williamson every success.

Mr T. P. Coveney, of Cuba street, has got a fine litter of puppies, five dogs and two hilclies mil of his Irish terrier Shccl.il), by Woodcoie Tim.

From a letter received by a local fancier from Auckland, it is stated that matters “ doggy " are not very bright at present, although fox terriers seem to be asked after very considerably.

Mr G. R. Hutchinson, the well-known fox terrier breeder, has disposed of a number of his last litter of pupa by Rowland Pluck out of A'ictory. Mr W. Rowe, of the Waikato, has one, Mr Rim mer, of Auckland, has another, and Mr G. McLeod, of Waikato, has purchased a third.

I am informed that a third gold modal has been promised for the Wellington show. This speaks well for the interest that is being taken in the forthcoming eliow by the general public. It is suggested to give this to Irish terriers, a very deserving class indeed, 1 think.

I am very pleased to be in a position to report that, the secretary of the New Zealand Kennel Club lias received tho books and papeis from Christchurch. The delay, as I have stated before, has been solely for the purpose of allowing the specially appointed sub committee (Messrs Wark and Bissct) time to enter up the registers, etc., before sanding on to headquarters in Wellington.

I am pleased to sec that Mr 11. Price, of the Trocodeio, has gone in for a good collie dog. He has purchased Rmi, a full sister to Mr F. Rogen's First Shot.

Mr H. M. Dids’oury’s bitches Sheila and Monkey have visited his stud dog Sprig. A pair of tho pups by Sprig out of Sheila are already bespoken by a prominent Melbourne fancier.

Mr Blights sent by the liaurotoon Tuesday his collie dog Lucifer to a well known fancier in Sydney to be shown in the next show to be held there.

Mr C. Fraser, who recently purchased the bulldog from Mr Stanton, of Napier, is making enquiries for a puppy of the same class from Melbourne.

Mr Trigg* lias had a sporting oiler from Auckland for one of his puppies entered for the Produce Stakes, but is not disposed t.o do business.

I’insuiti’s “'bast, Watch’’ is a good old song, and those who have had the pleasure of hearing it well sung will not seen forge! it. lint the " bast Watch," like every do r. has had its day, although il is not a dog; watch. The only watch nowadays is the wonderful new and improved Waierlmry Watch called the “ Trump obtainable everywhere.
