Some months ago two Canterbury residents arranged to obtain some new varieties oi potatoes from one of the best growers in (J i cat Britain. Six varieties were ordered out of some two or three hundred kinds. These were distributed between about 20 growers. 'L'lie potatoes arrived in the beginning of February, and were planted. Speaking'of the first sample,which was grown by Mr Halford, of Kakanui, the North Otago Times says “ The variety is that known as ‘ Early Wonder,’ Theso potatoes are quite fit for the table, and are ready to dig in eight weeks from planting.” Now way of stealing.
