MAURICEVILLE.

The weather has been very unsettled up here lately. There has been some mild rain falling which lias made everything look like spring. The young ladies here gave a leap year ball on the evening of Easter Monday. I hear it was one of the best balls ever held in Mauricevillc.

The examination of our public school is to be held on the 31st ins!. 1 think il will be a creditable one as the children have been taught by a very good teacher, Mr Joplin. There will be a picnic on the following day for the school children. I hear it is going to be a fair one, though it is rather late. Our cieigyman, the Lev. Legarlh, left here with his wife and family for the Old Country the other day. lie intends to be back again about next March. 'i'he butter factory will Mop working in another three or four weeks. There has been a larger supnly of milk this year than last.

'There are two auctioneers from Masterton who keep a stock sale here every month. This is rather too much for Muuriccville, as there is not enough stock here to keep them both gome, J am afraid.

There are two cases of typhoid fever here, I am sorry to say. J)r Douglas from Masterton is attending lo them.

[ think work will be scarce here as usual this winter. Numbers of .swaggers arc seen p.'iJs'ng through here every day.
