Both of these pamphlets are of special interest to everybody at the present time. An international conference on electric telegraphy has been convened by the Austrian Government, to meet at Buda Pcsth in June, for the purpose of enabling 1 experts from all the world tc compare notes as to the progress made in that important branch of science and provide for further advancement. A young fellow named Mclntosh was bitten by a katipo spider on the hand last Thursday at Kaiapoi. The hand swelled very much, but it is anticipated no serious results will follow.
